United Way of the Midlands kicks off its 2018-2019 fundraising campaign at its annual United Way Day on September 21.
“United Way Day is a celebration of community and the impact that we can make when we Live United. We are excited to kick off our 2018 - 2019 campaign and recognize the incredible efforts of the employees from companies that have already completed their annual United Way fundraising campaign,” said United Way of the Midlands President and CEO Sara Fawcett.
United Way will officially announce a new membership program created specifically for small business in the Midlands. The community will have the opportunity to learn more about the Small Business Alliance and the local companies that have joined as charter members of the program.
The event will be held at the State House steps from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21. All members of the community are invited to enjoy music, breakfast and the opportunity to learn more about United Way and interact with some of its local
Community Impact Partners. Guests will have the opportunity to learn more about these local agencies and have the chance to engage with different volunteer opportunities to become a champion for a child, fight for those experiencing homelessness and serve critical health needs in the area.
More than 40,000 community donors allowed United Way to invest $3.7 million in grants for its 2018-2019 fiscal year to fight to improve the health, education and financial stability of everyone in the Midlands. These grants are in addition to $2.3 million in donor-directed funds and $100,000 in flood recovery funding that will be distributed in the coming year. Last year, the organization served more than 31,000 people in the Midlands.
