Over 550 volunteers needed for United Way of the Midlands’ annual Volunteer Week
National Volunteer Week is just around the corner and United Way of the Midlands hopes to fill more than 550 volunteer spots for over 50 different projects, April 17 through April 22, in honor of the week.
United Way’s annual Volunteer Week, in partnership with presenting sponsor Truist, signature sponsors Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union; and champion sponsors AgFirst Farm Credit Bank, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, and Carolina Gas Transmission, A Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company, brings community members together to complete a variety of projects for nonprofits in the Midlands.
“We have the power to assist 18 local nonprofit organizations this year,” said Becky Morrison, United Way of the Midlands’ Director of Community Engagement. “This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals, families, and groups to give back and make a positive impact in the lives of others.”
National Volunteer Week provides the community with a way to give back while maintaining their normal schedule as multiple projects are offered each day at various times and places. This year’s projects include painting nature trail informational signs at Camp Cole, repairing a home with Habitat for Humanity Central South Carolina, setting up and running stations at Wood Elementary School’s Field Day, assembling dental health kits for children at Healthy Learners, beautifying headquarters for Global Gamecocks and more.
