Colonial Life invests $50,000 in WellPartners Dental and Eye Clinic
United Way of the Midlands’ WellPartners Dental and Eye Clinics received a $50,000 grant from Colonial Life to support the continuation of clinic services.
WellPartners offers dental and eye care services that provide preventative and restorative care to uninsured and underinsured children and adults in the Midlands. WellPartners is owned and operated by United Way of the Midlands with additional support from community partners, including Lexington County, Lexington Medical Center, Prisma Health and Richland County.
“At Colonial Life, we believe in supporting those disproportionally at risk of adverse health outcomes by funding health programs like WellPartners,” said Tim Arnold, President of Colonial Life. "We are pleased to partner with United Way of the Midlands and WellPartners to provide essential dental and eye care services within our community.”
In the 2021-2022 fiscal year, WellPartners Dental Clinics provided dental services to 644 adults and 173 children. Over 145 volunteer dentists and hygienists conducted a total of 3,541 patient visits. 870 individuals received eye care services which included 726 comprehensive eye exams, 102 optical encounters and 42 emergency and office visits.
“We are grateful for the support of partners like Colonial Life that assist us in providing exceptional service to adults and children in need of healthcare services at WellPartners,” said Sara Fawcett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands. “This funding helps us decrease the number of adults who work with uncorrected vision problems and children who miss school because of dental pain.”
