$50K Gift to WellPartners from Leon Levine Foundation
COLUMBIA, S.C. (August 18, 2022) – United Way of the Midlands’ WellPartners Dental and Eye Clinics received a $50,000 grant from The Leon Levine Foundation to support the continuation of clinic services.
WellPartners offers dental and eye care services that provide preventative and restorative care to uninsured and underinsured children and adults in the Midlands. WellPartners is owned and operated by United Way of the Midlands with additional support from community partners, including Lexington County, Lexington Medical Center, Prisma Health and Richland County.
"The Leon Levine Foundation is pleased to partner with United Way of the Midlands and WellPartners to provide essential dental and eye care services within our community,” said Tom Lawrence, President of The Leon Levine Foundation. “Services provided reduce the challenge of accessing affordable healthcare.”
In the 2021-2022 fiscal year, WellPartners Dental Clinics provided dental services to 644 adults and 173 children. Over 145 volunteer dentists and hygienists conducted a total of 3,541 patient visits. 870 individuals received eye care services which included 726 comprehensive eye exams, 102 optical encounters and 42 emergency and office visits.
“When oral health concerns go untreated, it hinders the overall health of individuals, and we are thankful for the support of partners like TLLF that assist us in building a community with equal access to healthcare,” said Sara Fawcett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands.
