United Way of the Midlands, Dominion Energy South Carolina and HomeServe Cares Foundation present $12,500 donation to Senior Resources, Inc.
Columbia, S.C. (October 15, 2019) – HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of home repair solutions, through its HomeServe Cares Foundation and partnership with Dominion Energy South Carolina presented today a $12,500 donation to United Way of the Midlands. The donation will benefit Senior Resources, Inc., a local non-profit organization that provides services and resources that allow Columbia’s senior citizens to remain independent.
Specifically, the funds will support Senior Resources’ programs for older adults in Richland County, including Meals on Wheels, home care, wellness centers, transportation and senior volunteer programs.
“As a local non-profit, we rely on generous contributions like this one from HomeServe and Dominion Energy,” said Andrew Boozer, Executive Director of Senior Resources. “We are incredibly thankful as this donation allows us to carry out our mission of helping seniors in the community maintain a healthy and independent lifestyle.”
Dominion Energy and HomeServe are dedicated to serving customers and supporting community-based initiatives in South Carolina. The two organizations partnered with United Way of the Midlands to identify a community organization whose mission aligns with that of HomeServe Cares Foundation: to spread hope and support communities, one home at a time.
“Our community impact partner Senior Resources, Inc. allows seniors to remain independent and in their own homes in many ways. For example, its Meals on Wheels program, does so much more than providing nutritious home-delivered meals,” said Sara Fawcett, United Way of the Midlands President and CEO. “Many seniors experience loneliness while living independently. The weekly meal deliveries give seniors the opportunity to interact with volunteers, who sometimes may be the only source of social interaction a senior receives. These also serve as a safety-check on clients. It is our job as an organization and a community to ensure our seniors are provided for physically and mentally.”
