Clothing Bank Reset

- Description: The Cooperative Ministry provides a 3,200 square foot clothing bank 'store setting' where clients can 'shop' for the free clothing they need for work and school. Volunteers are needed to reset the clothing bank each afternoon (and Friday morning) for the next day's client shoppers. There is a lot of standing. Service includes sorting, tagging, and racking clothes in appropriate places. A Client Confidentiality form is required of all volunteers. A Media Release form is optional. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a water bottle as needed.

Give back, have fun
Young Leadership Society (YLS) is a group of young professionals, ages 21–40, who give and volunteer monthly with United Way. YLS supports programs like Be a Book Bunny, which offers reading totes for Pre-K to second-grade students.
YLS donors also enjoy many exclusive opportunities throughout the year, like professional development, networking opportunities, and invitations to signature events like the YLS Oyster Roast and Cocktails & Conversations. This compassionate group of YLS members is focused on bettering their community as they build their careers.

General Information
What is Volunteer Week 2025?
Volunteer Week is a week-long initiative from April 21-26 where 1,000 volunteers across 100 teams will complete 100 impactful projects while raising funds to support education, housing, and healthcare programs in the Midlands.
Who can participate?
Anyone! Businesses, community groups, families, and individuals can all form or join a team. Each team consists of 5-10 volunteers.
How do I sign up?
Browse the available projects above and click the link for the project(s) you’re interested in to sign up! You will need an account with our Volunteer Center to register for a project.
Can my company or organization sponsor Volunteer Week?
Yes! Sponsorship opportunities are available. Contact Sheldon Paschal at spaschal@uway.org for details.

Volunteer Opportunities
What kind of projects are available?
Volunteers can choose from hands-on opportunities such as:
- Packing food at Harvest Hope
- Delivering meals to homebound seniors with Senior Resources
- Reading to students with Vital Connections
- Cleaning up at Transitions Homeless Shelter
Can kids participate?
Each opportunity has specific age limits. As long as your child meets the age requirement for a project, they are welcome to join.
If I bring my child, are they expected to raise funds as well?
No, children are not required to fundraise. However, this is a great opportunity to teach them about the importance of giving back to the community.
Do I need special skills to volunteer?
No special skills are required! Each project will have instructions and support from the host organization.
What should I bring to my volunteer shift?
Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Some projects may require specific items, which will be listed in your confirmation details.

- 50/50 Split – Between United Way of the Midlands and its impact partners.
- 75/25 Split – For local organizations beyond United Way’s direct partnerships.
