Community Councils

Community Councils guide the work of United Way of the Midlands. Composed of 30 volunteer stewards with backgrounds in not-for-profit management, business leadership and social services, each council tracks community conditions, completes a yearly spending plan tied to desired outcomes, manages a competitive grant process to fund programs, defines best practices and evaluates results of funded programs. These experienced volunteers can offer more expertise and strategies than the board and staff alone.
