LIVE UNITED
Joe Herndon
I've retired three times, and oddly enough I'm working harder now than I ever have. It is so worthwhile to volunteer. I feel so much better now that I’m volunteering than I ever did working just to make a dollar.
I'm involved in the community in many ways. I work with the school district through the school improvement council at three different schools in the Midlands. I am also on the Council of Lexington 5. Within United Way, I am a member of the Food, Shelter, Safety and Transportation (FSST) Council, which is right up my alley because I like to help the community in any way I can. I belong to two civic organizations, the Rotary Club and the Ruratan Club, and I’m a past president of each of those in Chapin. I kindly served on district government for Richland County as well. In addition, I’ve served on the board of repair in Chapin.
"My name is Joe Herndon. I am a community activist by advocating and being involved as much as possible, and that is how I LIVE UNITED.”
