Strategic Restructuring for Nonprofit Organizations: Robert (Bob) Harrington of La Piana Consulting will describe the various partnership options available to nonprofits including mergers, joint programming, administrative consolidation, and management service organizations. Bob will present the findings of a landmark study on mergers and alliances in the United States, as well as findings from The Collaboration Prize nominations. The prize was created by the Lodestar Foundation as a project to share effective non-profit best practice models. He will discuss the benefits and challenges of restructuring, as well as the process of assessment, negotiations, and implementation/integration.

Bob Harrington, MSW/LCSW, directs La Piana’s practice in strategic restructuring. He provided consulting services to the nonprofit sector for more than ten years, drawing on his extensive nonprofit management experience to assist nonprofits with strategic restructuring (partnerships between nonprofits, such as mergers, joint ventures, and administrative consolidations), strategic planning, executive/board relations, transition management, human resource issues, program planning and development, nonprofit incorporation, and collaborations including public/private partnerships.
