Have you seen this community?
– There are pressing/cyclical social issues that need to be addressed.
– Everybody believes somebody ought to do something.
– There is an abundance of Low-Trust relationships.
– Diverse constituent voices need to be heard.
– Direction and action need to be defined and followed.

Communities that are successful at navigating and producing real solutions for these concerns have one thing in common - they understand the importance of community engagement and empowerment, which leads to building/sustaining well-organized communities and movements. This workshop will cover some of the critical skills that community leaders can embrace to maximize their community engagement efforts, organize their communities, and generate momentum that will re-ignite the spirit and essence of collaborative cooperation and participation. Focusing on Relationship-Based principles of engagement, participants will learn how to identify and build a base of stakeholders, recognize and leverage community assets, reduce barriers to participation, and develop leadership from within to foster an environment where people come together to move toward a common goal.

The facilitator for the event will be Charles C. Weathers, Sr., President & CEO of the Weathers Group — an innovative consulting firm based in Columbia that specializes in leadership development, community engagement, strategic planning, and project management.

Directions:The fellowship hall is located across from the church. If you are coming from downtown Columbia take Farrow Road North. Cross Highway 277 and travel approximately 1mile. The fellowship hall is located on the left hand side of the road (Across the street from the church).
