In 2009 The Edisto Council of United Way of the Midlands decided to become a full partner with the benefits of area-wide fundraising. Volunteers from the counties participate in the work of the Community Impact Councils and Committees to identify needs, determine priorities and offer grants for programs in Orangeburg and Calhoun that meet the health and human service needs of the community.
